“I Sat and Took My Shot as the Final Light of the Day Hit the Clouds”

I travelled to the Ice-Cream Dunes south of Cervantes on a Saturday for an opportunity to get away from the stress of work and to clear my mind. I was wandering around the dunes enjoying my own company before this particular image was taken.

I sat and took my shot as the final light of the day hit the clouds. They were turning all sorts of colours: orange, red, purple and pink, it was very peaceful. You can’t capture sounds and smells with a photo, but there was plenty to experience as I took this shot.

There was a slight breeze whistling through the towering sand hills, the faint smell and sound of the ocean wafting through. Surrounded by gorgeous dunes, with the ocean on the horizon and no one else within miles of me, it was a very special and rewarding moment. I was so glad that I was able to experience it.
