“Brightly Coloured Rainbow Fish Painted the Water”

As the ferry docked at Rottnest Island, we saw waves rolling over the reef filled waters and people relaxing on their own private beach escapes.

We cycled through the maze of scenic roads that stretched around the island and saw the charming Quokkas roaming free.

In this picture we had stopped at Salmon Bay for a snorkel. On the ocean’s edge we adjusted our goggles, feeling the smooth white sand between our toes. We admired the waves across the outer reef, with only the smallest ripple reaching the beach.

We hadn’t expected to see so many fish among the corals and seagrass, especially this close to Perth. We saw schools of large silver fish drift cautiously out of reach, whilst further out brightly coloured rainbow fish painted the water with an entire spectrum of colour. Returning back to the beach we had fallen in love with Rottnest Island.
